Yes it’s that time of year again when it starts to get dark earlier and as recommended over the past few years we need to be even more‘security aware’ in NHW, due to the current financial climate. Make sure you have lights coming on and off in your house when it is unoccupied. There seem to be more suspicious people walking and driving through the estate this year “watching” properties.

Although it might be tempting to warm up the engine and defrost the windscreen whilst you nip back in doors for a cup of tea or something, this could provide thieves with a golden opportunity to steal personal belongings or even the whole vehicle – “Frostjacking”

The aim of the new site is to inform the public of the good work that the Partnership is doing to address crime, anti-social behavior and safety in the community. It has a page about the Canterbury CCTV system, another about domestic abuse – which includes a list of useful contact numbers – and a page on Neighbourhood Watch. It is hoped the new site will raise the profile of the Partnership and Canterbury City Council’s CSU. All scheme members with internet access are urged to visit this valuable website on a regular basis for up-dates on a wide range of community safety matters.
